Lisbon Reform Treaty to be discussed at UCC

On Thursday next, April 24th 2008, UCC will host a plenary sitting of the Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Affairs.
The purpose of the regional sitting is to raise awareness of the contents of Lisbon Reform Treaty which will be voted on in a referendum in June.

The meeting will be addressed by Mr Piaras MacEinri, lecturer in the Department of Geography, UCC, with a specific interest in migration and integration issues and Mr Joe Noonan, Solicitor practising in Cork with a specific interest in the field of environmental and planning law (a partner in the firm of Noonan Linehan Carroll Coffey)

The Committee invites members of the public to attend its regional sitting at the Aula Maxima, UCC at 8pm on Thursday next. The meeting will provide the opportunity for members of the public to put questions to the Committee and invited Speakers and express views on this new EU Treaty.

The views of the audience will contribute to the Committee's further deliberations in Leinster House. They will also be reflected in a report which the Committee will make to both Houses of the Oireachtas and the Government before the referendum.

After the meeting, members of the Committee will be available for further discussion over light refreshments.
