Can Laughter Cure Illness?

Can laughter make us healthier? Dr Bill Fry thinks so and he is a psychiatrist and professor emeritus of the Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr Fry's speciality is humour and he a pioneer in the field and the world's leading authority on laughter and health.
On Thursday next, October 23rd, Dr Fry will deliver the HJ and Barbara Cummings Annual Public Lecture on Humour at UCC.  The lecture titled "Contributions of Humour and Laughter to Health and Happiness" takes place at 4pm in Boole II Lecture Theatre.

Dr Fry's books include Sweet Madness (1963), Make 'em Laugh (1978), Advances in Humour and Psychotherapy (1993), and Humour and Wellness in Clinical Intervention (2001).  He also edited the Handbook of Humor and Psychotherapy (1987), and has published over 100 articles in both professional journals and popular publications, including Encyclopedia Britannica.  

This lecture is made possible through the endowment of HJ and Barbara Cummings to University College Cork in support of the development of the UCC Library of World Humour and the advancement of our understanding of humour.

Admission to the lecture is free and all are welcome.
