University College Cork (UCC) and Bon Secours Hospital Cork sign a Teaching Agreement
16.10.2007

UCC's College of Medicine and Health and the Bon Secours Hospital Cork signed an Agreement on Thursday, October 11th 2007.

The Agreement gives formal effect to a deepening relationship between the University and the Hospital in the teaching of Medical and Nursing students and also provides for extending the teaching functions of the hospital to other health profession students such as pharmacy and clinical therapies. The Agreement provides for joint appointments between hospital and university and gives access to university research facilities by hospital staff wishing to pursue research interests. In the Agreement, both institutions commit to work together to support and foster a culture of evidence  based and research led healthcare.

This development demonstrates that private hospitals and public universities can collaborate fruitfully in education and research to the benefit of both parties in the best interests of patients.
