A conference on child protection and welfare social work takes place today (Friday, October 26th 2007) in University College Cork. Child protection and welfare is one of the largest sectors of social work practice and it has undergone rapid legislative, policy and practice development over the last fifteen years in a context of greater cultural and ethnic diversity.

A conference on child protection and welfare social work takes place today (Friday, October 26th 2007) in University College Cork. Child protection and welfare is one of the largest sectors of social work practice and it has undergone rapid legislative, policy and practice development over the last fifteen years in a context of greater cultural and ethnic diversity.
This conference is an important initiative as there have been few
events of this kind dedicated to examining the 'state' of child
