International Art Expert to deliver Public Lecture at UCC, 2 November



International Art Expert, Professor David Hopkins, will deliver a public lecture at UCC on Thursday, 2 November at 6.15pm.  Organised by UCC's History of Art, the lecture titled Dada's Boys : Duchamp: Warhol : Gordon will explore the theme of masculinity in modern and contemporary art. The lecture will draw upon material that Professor Hopkins investigates in his forthcoming book for Yale University Press on male identity in and after Dada and which was also the theme of his recent exhibition Dada's Boys in Edinburgh.

David Hopkins is Professor of Art History (Modern and Contemporary) at the University of Glasgow.

Professor Hopkins recently curated the exhibition Dada's Boys : Play and Identity in Contemporary Art for the Fruitmarket Gallery, Edinburgh (2006)

This is the first lecture in the 2006/07 lecture series in theories of Modernism and Postmodernism in the Visual Arts organised by UCC's History of Art. The series will bring national and international scholars to UCC to reflect upon and present their research in a series of events.

The lecture takes place on Thursday, 2 November at 6.15pm, West Wing 5, Main Quadrangle.  Members of the public are invited to attend and admission is free.
