Irish-Russian links established at University College Cork (UCC)



UCC hosts a visit this week (25 September 2006) by a delegation from Voronezh State University, Russia.  The delegation, led by the university's  Rector, Professor Vladimir Titov, also includes Professor Alexander Miroshnikov and Professor Liubov Tsurikova. During the visit a formal exchange agreement between the two universities will be signed by Professor Gerard Wrixon, President, UCC and Professor Vladimir Titov.

Professor Dermot Keogh of UCC's History Department explained "The Agreement is designed to establish a strategic working relationship between the two institutions to enable further development of mutually beneficial collaborative projects. The agreement covers co-operation across a number of areas, including staff and student exchange, research and academic collaboration, joint publishing activities and other cultural contacts."

During the visit to UCC, the delegation will be given the opportunity to meet academics and students and tour the university campus.
