"Town Meets Gown" at UCC, 20 June

Over 400 guests from the world of business and academia are expected at UCC's "Town Meets Gown" Reception on Tuesday, 20 June.  Hosted by Professor Neil Collins, Dean of Commerce, the Reception takes place at Brookfield Health Services Complex, 6.00-8.00 pm. The aim of the event is to provide a social forum for the business and academic communities of the region to meet and share dialogue in an informal, relaxed setting.

This is the seventh "Town Meets Gown" event organised by UCC's Commerce Faculty.  However, it is the third time that the event is being held in association with Cork Chamber.  This important association is a recognition of the mutual objective of enhancing and advancing links between the business and academic communities.

Professor Collins notes: "This is an invaluable event which promotes informal dialogue between the University and the wider business, not-for-profit and public sector communities.  This year's event also marks the launch of the new research journal Taighde which is an important acknowledgement of our commitment to business related research".

The event commences with an introduction and welcome by Professor Gerard T. Wrixon, UCC President, followed by the launch of the new Commerce Faculty magazine Taighde.  Some of Cork's finest musicians - the Apollo String Quartet will provide the music for the informal party which runs from 6.40-8.00 pm.

The Dean of Commerce gratefully acknowledges the kind sponsorship of the following organisations for the event:  Bank of Ireland, Beamish and Crawford Ltd, Musgrave Group, Musgrave Supervalu Centra, UCC MBA.
