Globalisation Roundtable Discussion at UCC, 24 April



Research and teaching in the area of Globalisation is the subject of a roundtable discussion at UCC today (Monday 24 April 2006). Following on from a visiting speaker series run throughout the academic year, this event is organised by Dr Ursula Kilkelly, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Law and supported by Irish Aid, Department of Foreign Affairs. The objective of the roundtable is to deepen and widen the existing network of links across all academic departments in UCC of those with an interest in the broad area of globalisation and development education. It will explore ways of developing and strengthening the research, including at postgraduate level, and the teaching of globalisation issues at UCC and aim to strengthen the profile of UCC's work in this area.

Academics from a wide range of academic departments and units will participate in the discussion including the areas of Epidemiology and Public Health, Geography, Education, Sociology, Law, Coastal and Marine Resources, Applied Social Studies, Government, Economics, Music, Food Business and Development, Nursing and Midwifery, and Zoology, Ecology and Plant Science. Subsequent events will be organised to develop links between the UCC Globalisation Group and non-governmental and state agencies in this area.
