University College Cork (UCC) hosts Annual Access Programme Easter School

More than 200 transition and fifth year students from schools in Cork and Kerry will be on campus at UCC, 3-6 April, to participate in the annual Access Programme Easter School.

The Access Programme works with students in targeted schools, providing motivational and educational assistance to them through their secondary schooling. This in turn should enhance their ability to compete for third level places.

Easter School gives students the opportunity to experience University life first hand.  During their time on campus students will participate in a wide range of activities. Presentations and interactive sessions will be provided by staff from the four Colleges (Medicine & Health; Science, Engineering & Food Science; Arts, Celtic Studies & Social Sciences; Business and Law) as well as talks on student services and the Students Union. The group will get an introduction to the facilities in the Mardyke Arena and participate in various sporting activities. The experience will also include computer sessions, language labs, a physics show, rocket workshops, guided tours and many other activities, which should encourage these students to consider University as a real option.
