International Cultures Week opens today (20 February 2006) at UCC.
Organised by Áras na Mac Léinn in association with the International
Education Office, the week commences with the Official Opening at

Cup" at the Mardyke on Wednesday and an International Cultures Ceili at
7pm in Devere Hall (Thursday). An exhibition of traditional
crafts, culture and photography will be on display throughout the week.
"Building on the success of last year's festival I am delighted that so
many more International Students are participating this year with
representations from Africa, Europe, Middle East, Far East and North
America. Students and staff of the college as well as schoolchildren
are invited to visit the exhibition during the week" said Grainne
Thompson, Events Manager, Áras na Mac Léinn.
UCC now has an international student population of 2,000 from 75
countries. According to Suzanne Buckley, Support Officer at the
International Education Office ""International Cultures Week is a forum
to learn, explore, share and exchange ideas and information about
different traditions, cultures and values and provides a platform to
share an understanding of the many cultures and traditions within the
UCC community".
Open to students, staff, schools and the general public, International
Cultures Week runs from 20-24 February at Devere Hall, Áras na Mac
Léinn.
