McNeil Ltd Sponsor Prize at UCC's School of Pharmacy



McNeil Ltd recently launched the McNeil Ltd Annual Prize in Clinical Pharmacy to be awarded for excellence in the third year of the four year B.Pharmacy degree programme at UCC. The company has also agreed to give additional support to the School of Pharmacy Development Fund which will be used for travel bursaries; updating computer aided learning software and the purchase of text books.

The first Pharmacy students enrolled at UCC in October 2003 and moved into the new building in 2005. The second phase of the development is expected to be completed shortly. McNeil Ltd, part of the Johnson & Johnson group of companies, is a leading provider of over-the-counter treatments in Europe serving retail pharmacies around Ireland.

Commenting on the generosity of McNeil Ltd, Dr Jean van Sinderen-Law, Director of Development at UCC stated that corporate support through partnership with the University such as that from McNeil Ltd is essential to enable the University deliver the highest quality of education and research and stressed that the University was committed to building partnerships with the corporate sector.
