Professor Eamonn Quigley, Head, School of Medicine, UCC has been

Organisation (WGO-OMGE) - the world's
largest and most prominent professional
gastroenterological association. Professor Quigley was elected
President at the World Congress of Gastroenterology in Montreal,

said "It is with great pleasure and with a sense of even greater
responsibility that I assume the Presidency of WGO-OMGE; this is
a singular honour and it is my goal to serve all the members to
the best of my ability over the next four years. That the WGO-OMGE
has achieved the status it now enjoys in global gastroenterology
is a testament to all of those who have preceded me and
who, often in adverse circumstances have created, sustained
and nurtured the organisation. We have come a long way but there
are many challenges and opportunities ahead. Together
we can make it happen."
A native of Ballineen, Co. Cork, Professor Quigley received his medical
