University College Cork (UCC) hosts international conference on the Contemporary French Theatre
UCC hosts an international conference on the Contemporary French
Theatre: Writing, Performing, Teaching - La scène française
contemporaine: écrire, jouer, enseigner on 2-4 September.
Organised by Dr Mary Noonan of UCC's French Department the conference
will showcase contemporary writing for the French stage and feature a
combination of academic papers and staged readings by a range of French
playwrights and actors.
Writers Noëlle Renaude, Philippe Minyana, Eugène Durif, directors
Robert Cantarella, Frédéric Maragnani, actors Christophe Brault and
Jean-Paul Dias, and theatre scholars David Bradby, Michel Corvin
and Patrice Pavis are among those showcased at the conference.
Keynote speakers include David Bradby, Professor of Theatre Studies,
Royal Holloway, University of London whose address is titled - 'Le
Théâtre d'Art - ou en sommes-nous en 2005?', Patrice Pavis, Professeur
d'Études Théâtrales, Université de Paris VIII, who will speak on 'La
mise en scène des écritures contemporaines pour la scène française:
quelques problèmes spécifiques' and Michel Corvin, Professeur Honoraire
à l'Université de Paris III (Institut d'Etudes Théâtrales) with a talk
titled 'L'écriture du lieu dans le théâtre français contemporain.'
