Forum for the Advancement of Continuing Education (FACE) - UCC Conference, 6-8 July



The Forum for the Advancement of Continuing Education (FACE) will hold its annual conference at UCC from 6-8 July. Organised by UCC's Centre for Adult & Continuing Education the conference titled "Towards a Global Understanding of Lifelong Learning: Making a Difference" will host contributors from 14 differerent countries.

Globalising trends have implications for learners, communities and policies.  These three strands will be considered through a range of themes including: Lifelong Learning, Widening Participation, Aimhigher, Continuing Professional Development, Work Related Learning, Distance and E-learning, Barriers to Learning, and Learning Communities, Cities and Regions.  Contributors include: Professor Sir David Watson, Professor John Storan, Professor Máirtín Ó Fathaigh, Dr Timothy Rudd and Fr Seán Healy.

FACE is a UK wide network for all those involved and concerned with Continuing Education and Lifelong Learning. As a multi-sector network FACE and its members are at the forefront of the challenges involved in providing Lifelong Learning opportunities for all. As an inclusive organisation FACE encourages collaboration and partnership whilst maintaining a member-driven voice on key issues for learners and providers. With members from every part of the UK as well as a significant number of international members, FACE membership represents a strong network drawn from all areas of Lifelong Learning providers.

The conference is open to anyone involved in lifelong learning and continuing education from all sectors of higher education, further education, community education, voluntary organisations, policy makers and any other groups or individuals with an interest in furthering lifelong learning.
