Award for Lewis Glucksman Gallery
The Lewis Glucksman Gallery, University College Cork
(UCC) is delighted to announce that on Friday, 17 June at the
annual awards ceremony of the Royal Institute of British Architects
(RIBA), the Lewis Glucksman Gallery was presented with a RIBA award in
the European category. The judges were full or praise for this campus
based building, inaugurated by Mary McAleese, President of Ireland on
15 October 2004.
Citation from the RIBA Judges
"What is really remarkable about this university art gallery is that the more one looks, the better it gets. That is the sign of complete assurance and maturity. What most artists do is to make simple things complex; great artists make complex things appear simple. This is one of the rare buildings that fits that definition of greatness."
