University College Cork (UCC) hosts the 14th Irish-Australian Conference



UCC hosts the 14th Irish-Australian Conference from 22-24 June.  Organised by UCC's History Department the conference features some 40 speakers from Australia, New Zealand, the US, Britain and Ireland and includes the John O'Brien and Oliver MacDonagh memorial lectures which will be delivered by Professors Joe Lee and Tom Dunne.  

The conference commences on Wednesday, 22 June with a talk by Carla King, St Patrick's College, Dublin, titled  "'A new world full of youthful hope and promise': Michael Davitt in Australia, 1895", followed by Rory O'Dwyer, UCC, "A roof-raising affair'? Eamonn de Valera's tour of Australia and New Zealand" and Ruán O'Donnell, University of Limerick whose talk is titled "The IRA and Australia 1948-'62".  

The Conference runs from 22-24 June with registration on Wednesday, 22 June from 9.00-10.30am, West Wing, UCC.  The fee for the 3-day conference (includes lunch) is E90 or 1-day attendance (includes lunch) is E35.   Members of the public are welcome to attend.  For details please contact Dr Larry Geary, Tel. 021 4903047 or email l.geary@ucc.ie
