UCC's History of Art presents Major Lecture Series, 26-27 May
Professor Stephen Bann (Bristol University), one of the principal
theorists of modern art, will present two public lectures at UCC on
successive evenings, under the title: Ways Around
Modernism. Part I: Strange Encounters takes place on
Thursday, 26 May, Kane Building, UCC at 5.30pm followed by Part II
Curiouser and Curiouser on Friday, 27 May at 5.30pm at the same venue.
This is the third set of lectures in the series Theories of Modernism
and Postmodernism, which will bring seven internationally known
speakers to UCC over the next two years. The lectures take place over
two nights, and are published as books.
The lectures are free and, as always, members of the public are welcome
to attend. The inaugural lecture, by James Elkins (The Master
Narratives and Their Discontents) is available on request, by email

On Saturday, 28 May, there will be a taped faculty roundtable with
Professor Bann, which will also be included in the book. If you are
