UCC Academics awarded Fellowships
Two UCC academics have been awarded Fellowships by the Irish Research
Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences (IRCHSS).
Professor Keith Sidwell, Head of UCC's Classics Department has been
awarded a Senior Research Fellowship for his work on A Handbook of
Irish Neo-Latin and an edition of Dermitius O'Meara's Ormonius.
Dr Mervyn O'Driscoll of UCC's History Department has been awarded a
Research Fellowship for his submission "The Challenge of Nuclear
France, 1945-'63".
The IRCHSS is responsible for Ireland's national strategic programme
for research in the humanities and social sciences. Its mission
includes encouraging excellence and the highest standards in research;
promoting interdisciplinary, inter-faculty and inter-institutional
programme collaboration; encouraging co-operation between the
humanities and social sciences and contributing to the development of
policy on research in the humanities and social sciences.
