Bookends Conference 2005
The Department of English, University College Cork will host a
postgraduate conference on Wednesday 13 April . The aim of the
conference is to promote research activity in the College and encourage
interaction between postgraduates in the English Department. The
13 papers cover diverse periods and topics ranging from medieval
literature to modern writing.
The conference consists of four sessions and two workshops. The
workshops will focus on two aspects of academic study: thesis writing
and publication. It is hoped that the workshop on thesis writing,
which will be conducted by PhD students, will be especially useful for
MA students who are currently researching their dissertation
topics. The conference papers engage with the broad themes of
identity, gender, and place. New research on the poetry of
Michael Hartnett by Shirley O' Regan, and Kalene Kenefick's paper which
examines the work of Una Troy, are particularly noteworthy.
The Conference takes place on Wednesday, 13 April, 10am-6pm, Room 1.32, O'Rahilly Building.
