Hack your Health: New Netflix documentary features UCC expert

Hack Your Health: Secrets of your Gut, a new Netflix documentary will premiere globally on Friday 26th April, and will feature a University College Cork (UCC) scientist who is a global expert on gut health.

The light-hearted and informative documentary demystifies the role gut health plays in our overall well-being. "Our gut affects our whole body; it influences everything," states Professor John Cryan. Vice President of Research and Innovation at UCC who is a renowned researcher in this field and features in the documentary. 

The importance of the gut microbiome in overall health and well-being is today being increasingly recognised by the scientific community and the public alike. “Gut science has been the hottest area for the last decade or more. Anxiety, depression, cancer, autism, and Parkinson's  disease are all related to the gut” states Professor Cryan.

UCC is home to APC Microbiome Ireland, established twenty years ago, it is now a world leading SFI Research Centre with a community of over 300 researchers powering insight into the microbiome.

The Netflix documentary also features interviews with leading researchers from Stanford, UC San Diego, Kings College London, UCLA, the Weizmann Institute.
