Interim President appointed at UCC
University College Cork (UCC) today announces that its Governing Body has appointed Professor John O’Halloran as its interim President.
Professor O’Halloran has served as Deputy President and Registrar since 2018 and assumes the interim President role immediately for a period of one year.
“These are challenging times but the strength of UCC, is its community. I look forward to working together with our students and colleagues.” commented Professor O’Halloran.
Dr Catherine Day, Chair of the Governing Body of UCC welcomed Professor O’Halloran’s appointment and wished him every success in his leadership of the University.
In July, Professor Patrick O’Shea announced his retirement as President and an international recruitment search for a successor will be launched in the coming months.
The appointment has been welcomed by colleagues both past and present, including UCC's Head of Study of Religions Department Amanullah De Sondy, and Emeritus Professor of Education and former Vice-President Aine Hyland.
Yes indeed. @johbees has always been a champion of equality and diversity. UCC is in good hands.
