GA6036 – Poetry Workshop

A group of MA students visited Corca Dhuibhne recently as part of the module GA6036, a poetry workshop facilitated by Dr Ailbhe Ní Ghearbhuigh. Seán Mac a’ tSíthigh spoke to the students about his experience as a video journalist with RTÉ. He emphasised the importance of celebrating the achievements of local communities in the national news.
Poet and archaeologist, Simon Ó Faoláin, treated the students to a site-specific poetry reading at three locations, Imileá, Teampall na Cluanach and Gallarus. Poet Bríd Ní Mhóráin gave a comprehensive talk about the importance of Saint Brigid and gave examples of the folklore surrounding Naomh Bríd.
