Teaching Methods
Teaching at UCC is student-centred and patient-focused, reflecting best practice in medical education. Teaching methods include seminars, laboratory practicals, tutorials, case-based teaching and clinical skills sessions. Much of the teaching is personalised small group teaching.
Our students have early patient contact and as students progress through the course, the emphasis is increasingly on bedside teaching in our large network of hospitals and family practices. Our teachers are all experienced clinicians and excellent teachers, with an enthusiasm and a passion for medical education. The medical school has a dedicated academic Medical Education Unit which provides expertise in programme development and assessment.
