Kick-off Meeting with the European Commission
Molly O’Connor and Aoife Finnerty (JCOERE UCC) attended a very successful kick start meeting in Brussels on March 27th. The meeting, hosted by the European Commission, took place in the Committee of the Regions and attendees were project teams, coordinators and beneficiaries of funding under the EU 2020 Justice Programme. The meeting proved to be highly informative and very successful in providing each project team with critical information relating to project standards, considerations and recommendations.
Amongst other discussion points, the Commission outlined the continuous and final reporting structure, the procedure for amendments to projects under the EU 2020 Justice Programme and policy considerations relevant to project implementation. Furthermore, attendees were also afforded the opportunity to ask both general and project specific questions, leading to a valuable exchange of knowledge.
The meeting also provided a wonderful opportunity for networking amongst the participating project teams, as the attendees had the chance to meet briefly with one another and discuss their individual projects, aims and objectives, in addition to an opportunity to exchange contact details. This provided a great opportunity to make new connections, with a view for each project to increase their outreach and disseminating to a wider audience.
The UCC JCOERE team are most thankful for the warm welcome extended by the Commission in Brussels. They found the meeting to be highly insightful and motivating, as did the project partners, UNIFI, UTM and INSOL. The entire JCOERE project team look forward to utilising the information gained during the meeting and to marking further important milestones in the project.
