Global & Comparative Perspectives on Gender-Based Violence Seminar

Last week, a seminar titled Global & Comparative Perspectives on Gender-Based Violence took place in the Dora Allman Room in The Hub at UCC.
The well received seminar was jointly hosted by the Violence, Conflict and Gender Cluster - Centre for Advanced Studies in Languages and Cultures Centre for Mexican Studies - Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies and the ISS21 Gender, Sexualities and Families Cluster research cluster.
The keynote address; All Mexican Violence is Gender Violence was delivered by Professor Pablo Piccato, Columbia University with a response from Professor Nuala Finnegan, Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies at UCC. Dr Gema Kloppe-Santamaría, co-convenor of the ISS21 Genders, Sexualities and Families research cluster introduced the keynote address.
The seminar featured three round table discussions:
- Gendered realities:representation,reproduction, mediation
- Violence(s) and exclusions: borders and entanglements
- Resistance and action: crafting alternative futures
Dr Gema Kloppe-Santamaría and Dr. Fiachra Ó Súilleabháin, co-convenors of the ISS21 Genders, Sexualities and Families research cluster took part in the round table talks.
