UCC is in top 100 on ‘innovative’ university list
Reuters’ first-ever ranking of Europe’s top 100 “innovative” universities includes University College Cork. Read the article in the Irish Examiner here.
Commenting on the release of the index, UCC VP for Research & Innovation, Professor Anita Maguire said, “I am delighted that the work of the UCC academic community and the technology transfer office to meet our strategic goal of being a premier European university for research, discover, innovation and commercialisation is succeeding. Our aim as a university, served by our technology transfer staff, is to impact positively on our community. Last year UCC transferred over 22 technologies to the commercial sector and we have launched 6 new companies in the last 6 months. We now have 21 active spinouts using UCC intellectual property or expertise to drive economic growth. This survey is a recognition of our commitment to undertaking world class research and looking to maximise the impact that research can have for the public good”.
