Congratulations to UCC spinout campus company Alimentary Health Ltd for winning the SME award at the 2015 US Ireland Research Innovation Awards at the American Chamber of Commerce annual dinner.

Alimentary Health was spun out of UCC in 2001.  Based in Cork, the company focuses on the  discovery, development and commercialisation of proprietary bacterial and pharmabiotic treatments.  The company developed the patented Irish probiotic B infantis 35624, the No 1 gastroenterologist recommended probiotic in the US, which is helping millions of suffers of irritable bowel syndrome manage the condition.

The awards were held in Dublin on the 15th May at the American Chamber of Commerce annual dinner in the DoubleTree by Hilton.  They are jointly presented by the American Chamber of Commerce Ireland and Royal Irish Academy to recognise excellence in research innovation that has taken place on the island of Ireland as a result of US foreign direct investment.

Among the audience of 700 were leaders of many of the US companies in Ireland, representatives from academia and a range of innovation stakeholders. In addition to addresses from the presidents of the American Chamber (Eamonn Sinnott) and Royal Irish Academy (Mary E Daly), the audience heard from US Ambassador to Ireland Kevin O'Malley and Damien English, Minister for Jobs, Enterprise & Innovation.
