This Award of Excellence acknowledges the Unit’s excellence in the provision of Continued Professional Development and training to the food and agri-food sectors and sea-food sectors in Ireland.

The Food Industry Training Unit (FITU) received an award of excellence during the recent UCC Food Institute launch acknowledging the Unit’s excellent contribution to the provision of Continued Professional Development and training in the food and agri-food sectors and sea-food sectors in Ireland.

Manager, Mary McCarthy-Buckley, was delighted to accept the award on behalf of the team and stressed the importance of partnerships in ensuring continued success, “Partnerships are essential in ensuring that FITU meets the dynamic needs of those working in the Food and Agri-food and Seafood sectors. We would not have been able to achieve 25 years of success without our management team, specialized expert lecturers, industry partners and state agencies and government departments.”

Established in 1993, the FITU services the part-time CPD and training needs of people working in, or associated with, the food and related industry sectors. Working hand-in-hand with industry the Unit is an example of UCC’s readiness to evolve and respond to the needs of this rapidly growing sector of industry.
