Aurivo Co-op continues their partnership with UCC on a Butter Science Training Initiative
Following on from a very successful Dairy Science and Technology Training Initiative in January of this year, the Aurivo Co-operative partnered again with University College Cork (UCC) for a focused course on Butter Science and Technology .The Aurivo Dairy Ingredients site at Ballaghaderreen, Co Roscommon, is a leader in the global supply of quality, innovative and trusted dairy ingredients, in particular, enriched /fat filled milk powders and will commission an upgraded modern butter production facility during March 2022.
The bespoke Butter Science and Technology training course was delivered on-site on the 14th of March 2022 by David Waldron from the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences at UCC. The course was tailored specifically to meet the training needs of the Aurivo butter team and to address key areas of focus relevant to the team. The bespoke Dairy Science and Technology training course was delivered by Dr Seamus O’Mahony, also from the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences at UCC. This course was delivered to Aurivo staff from a range of functions (e.g., operations, quality, engineering, management). These bespoke courses were developed with the benefit of a number of detailed site visits and process scans in advance by the trainers.
Commenting on the bespoke Butter Science and Technology session, David Waldron said, “that providing site-specific training courses give the staff a panoramic view of their process, reinforcing existing knowledge, while exploring the underpinning science and probing production issues within the wider team to ultimately ensure Aurivo Dairy Ingredients produce the highest quality products.”
Commenting on the bespoke Dairy Science and Technology session, Dr Seamus O’Mahony said, ‘’provision of world-class education and training in Dairy Science and Technology is a strategic priority for us in UCC, and in addition to our research outputs, contributes to UCC’s position as the # 1 University in Ireland, and in the top 10 globally, in Dairy Science and Technology.’’
Commenting on the bespoke training sessions, Willie Murphy, Operations Manager Aurivo Dairy Ingredients, said ‘’The provision of these courses represents a significant investment in staff to support the ambitious future plans for the site and the range of nutritional dairy ingredients produced by Aurivo Co-op and we are delighted to partner with UCC’’.
Commenting on the bespoke training session, Dr Amy-Jane Troy, Project Director, Food Industry Training Unit in the School of Food and Nutritional Sciences at UCC said, “We are delighted to continue our partnership with Aurivo Co-operative. The mission of the Food Industry Training Unit is to ensure access to continued professional development and flexible pathways of progression for those that work in the agri-food sector. FITU are delighted to continue their partnership with Aurivo in the development of bespoke dairy initiatives developed around the evolving needs of the Aurivo staff’’.
