Travel and Accommodation

Cork Air Access:

Capture

The map above shows the available routes to Cork airport. From the airport it is a relatively short journey to the city by taxi or bus. There are of course other possibilities, the most obvious being to fly to Dublin and come to Cork via train or bus, which takes about two and a half hours. The aircoach (www.aircoach.ie/) goes directly from Dublin Airport to Cork city centre. Trains to Cork leave Dublin from Heuston Station. Those arriving from the US may have the option of flying into Shannon and taking a bus to Cork from there, which is about an hour and a half journey. There are good transatlantic options via London Heathrow or Amsterdam.

Accommodation:

University College Cork and Tyndall National Institute are very close to Cork City Centre and there are many nearby hotels. These include The River Lee Hotel, The Imperial Hotel, The Maldron Hotel, Jury’s Inn, The Clayton Hotel, Hotel Isaacs, and The Metropole Hotel.

There are also several excellent B&Bs very near to UCC (almost literally only a stone’s throw away). In particular, Garnish House (www.garnish.ie) is highly recommended and is where many visitors to UCC stay. Looking on google maps just to the north of the UCC campus, along the Western Road, you will see many of them. If you would like help finding a B&B contact us at eslw2019@ucc.ie
