Cónal Creedon to receive 2025 Ireland Funds Monaco - Princess Grace Library Bursary Award

Cónal Creedon a novelist, playwright, documentary filmmaker and collaborative artist will be appointed resident writer attached to the PRINCESS GRACE LIBRARY MONACO 2025.

Cónal Creedon a novelist, playwright, documentary filmmaker and collaborative artist will be appointed resident writer attached to the PRINCESS GRACE LIBRARY MONACO 2025. While in Monaco Cónal will work on his next novel and present a series of lectures. The first lecture titled A Sense Of Place, will take place on 27th February, and is inspired by Cónal’s most recent book SPAGHETTI BOWL, an anthology of essays which explores the downtown streets of Cork City.
Cónal’s erudite – entertaining and engaging style has made him very popular on the international performance circuit. He has presented his work at New York University (USA), Fudan University (China), Zurich University (Switzerland), Irish American Heritage Centre Chicago (USA), People’s Normal University Shanghai (China), Florence University (Italy), The Ke Centre For Creative Art Shanghai (China), The Irish American Cultural Institute (USA) – and at numerous International literary festivals. Most recently, Cónal was invited to present the 2024 Beatty Lecture at McGill University, Montreal Canada which was broadcast across multiple networks including, CBC Radio 1 Canada, US Public Radio, ABC Radio Australia, World Radio Paris. 2024 marked 70 years of the prestigious BEATTY LECTURE which continues to present a wide range of voices; from the Nobel to the Pulitzer, from the Kremlin to Carnegie Hall. Previous invited speakers include, former President of Soviet Union Mikhail Gorbachev and Nobel Peace Prize winner Maria Ressa.
In recognition of Cónal’s contribution to the arts, The World Culture Council (Switzerland) presented him with the Leonardo da Vinci Award 2024. He was also honoured by the Irish American Heritage Centre who presented Cónal with the IBAM Award for Literature 2024. Closer to home, Cónal was appointed Cultural Ambassador in 2020, and was honoured with the Lord Mayor’s Culture Award 2020. In 2017, following his tenure as writer-in-residence at UCC, Cónal was appointed Adjunct Professor of Creative Writing at University College Cork.
