Preliminary results from the IDEAs pilot trial presented at the AUDGPI/IGCP Joint Scientific Meeting 2020.

Dr Fiona Riordan and Ms Susan Ahern both presented preliminary results of the IDEAS pilot trial at the Association of University Departments of General Practice in Ireland (AUDGPI) Irish College of General Practitioners (IGCP) Joint Scientific Meeting which was held in UCC on the 5th and 6th of March.  

As part of her presentation, Dr Riordan outlined some results on trial participation, retention and intervention delivery. Ms Ahern presented preliminary results of the cost to general practice of participating in the pilot randomised controlled trial. The trial is currently underway with control practices now delivering the intervention. More information on the trial, process evaluation and costing work is available here.  Ms Dara O’Keeffe, a medical student in UCC, presented work completed as part of her dissertation for a Master of Public Health. She reported the results of a secondary analysis of people with type 2 diabetes enrolled in the Midlands Diabetes Structured Care Programme.  Dara examined levels of attendance at Diabetic RetinaScreen and predictors of attendance in this cohort.
