Munawar received his bachelor’s (2015) and master’s (2017) in food science and nutrition from Government College University Faisalabad (GCUF), Pakistan. He won the prestigious “International Research Studentship Award” for his PhD at the University of Reading, UK where he used a piglet model to study the impact of different iron supplements on gut microbiota and metabolism and was awarded the PhD in 2023.
Munawar, after his PhD, joined Tangney lab as a Marie Curie Fellow. Munawar’s research focuses on innovative advances in cancer treatment by harnessing bacteria as protein bio-factories to exploit CAR technology. His approach aims to revolutionize cancer therapy by precisely targeting malignant cells, offering potential breakthroughs in the fight against cancer.
