24hr Design Charrette - Anthology
Anthology of UCC Architecture Society's 24hr Design Charrette work created by CCAE students.
Following the 24hr Design Charrette held by UCC Architecture Society in CCAE in November 2022, the Arch Soc have put together a digital anthology of students work completed as a result. This serves as a virtual archive of the exhibition held during their 2023 Symposium Event: Future of Cork City which took place the 15th and 16th Februrary 2023.
As a form of active protest against dereliction and urban decay within Cork City Centre, 84 students of CCAE took part in an overnight occupation of the Douglas Street Campus on the 9th November 2022. This “Design Charrette” involved students across year groups creating one A3 drawing proposing an alternative life for an existing derelict building within the city centre. This is a catalogue of the completed proposals, intended to spark further debate on how our city might look if the needs of the community took precedent over the needs of investors.#
Congratulations to all students who took part in the event and for their great contributions to bring to light the high levels of dereliction in Cork City! Big thanks to the 2022.23 UCC Architecture Society committee for all their efforts and organisation in such events.
