Entry Requirements per Programme

You can apply to enter UCC via our Direct Entry courses that are not listed on the CAO.

Interested applicants should apply directly to the Admissions Office by completing the application form listed on the course page for each course below.

Evening Law (BCL)

Open to EU students who are aged 21 on or before 1st January of the year of entry.

The Evening BCL (Hons) Degree may be awarded following a four-year evening programme. A Diploma in Law is awarded on successful completion of the Second Year. The programme is normally available on a cyclical basis and is subject to the following conditions: 

  1. Entry is open to mature EU students only. In the case of the Evening BCL (Hons) Degree, this means students who have reached 21 years of age on or before 1st January of the year of proposed entry. Entry is limited and will be subject to a selection process. All such students who secure a place in the Evening BCL (Hons) programme will be deemed to have satisfied the minimum entry requirements on the grounds of Mature Years. 
  2. The commencement of any Law Degree programme will depend upon a sufficient number of persons registering for the programme. 
  3. The numbers permitted to register for the Degree in Law programme may be limited. 
     

Diploma in Dental Hygiene (DipDHyg)

We only accept applications from EU applicants who have completed secondary school leaving exams i.e. the Leaving Certificate must be complete prior to application.

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age by October 15th in the year of proposed entry to the programme, and must hold a Leaving Certificate or equivalent at the time of application or be applying on the basis of mature years. Application forms can be obtained from the Admissions Office by emailing admissions@ucc.ie.

Leaving Certificate entry requirements

Minimum grade H5 in two subjects and minimum grade O6/H7 in four other subjects. Subjects must include Irish (unless exempt), English, another language, Mathematics and Biology.

Mature students

Applicants should apply directly to the UCC Admissions Office and may be required to attend for an interview.

Diploma in Dental Nursing (DipDN)

We only accept applications from EU applicants

Leaving Certificate entry requirements

O6/H7 in at least five subjects in the Leaving Certificate.

Mature students

Applicants should apply directly to the Admissions Office, UCC and may be required to attend for an interview.

Science Education (BSc)

Paramedic Studies – Practitioner Entry (BSc)

The application form for the programme is available here.

Applicants must be a registered practitioner for the duration of the programme.

Applicants must hold a Diploma in Emergency Medical Science (NFQ Level 7) or Emergency Medical Technology (NFQ Level 7) or equivalent.

Applicants will be required to submit a personal statement indicating their reasons for wishing to enter this programme.

Candidates whose first language is not English must meet the University's English language requirements.

Nursing Studies (BSc)

To be eligible to apply, applicants must be Registered Nurses or Midwives recognised by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI).

Applicants from outside Ireland must hold active registration as a nurse in the professional register of their country of residence.
