Galician Sounds: Music and Poetry in Contemporary Galicia
The Irish Centre for Galician Studies is delighted to invite you to the half-day event 'Galician Sounds: Music and Poetry in Contemporary Galicia', which will take place on Wednesday the 22nd of March 2017 in room ORBG27b (Mary Ryan Room).

3PM - RESEARCH SEMINAR
Alberto Pombo
Construcción canónica y relación entre poesía gallega y música (In Spanish)
This seminar on Galician literature and music will offer an overview of the Galician musical scene in the past 50 years and will analyse its impact on the construction of a literary canon.
4PM - COFFEE BREAK
4.30PM - MULTIMEDIA POETRY READING
Yolanda Castaño - Poet
A combination of live reading and videopoetry projection with pre-recorded audio. A new and attractive way to share poetry by putting it in dialogue with audiovisual language and new technologies.
Yolanda Castaño is one of the pioneers in multimedia poetry readings in Galicia, and has shared her work in places such as Tokyo, Buenos Aires or Helsinki among many others.
5.30PM WINE RECEPTION AND BOOK LAUNCH
Martín Veiga and Keith Payne will present Six Galician Poets, edited by Manuela Palacios and translated by Keith Payne (Arc Publications: London, 2016).
