17 Oct 2014

Monday, November 10th –  6:30 pm Kane G02

The Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies is delighted to present the fifth of a series of films on the theme of "journeys and returns to Portugal”:

A GAIOLA DOURADA

(The Gilded Cage, original French title: La cage Dorée)

Ruben Alves, 2013 (90 minutes)

Languages: Portuguese and French (English subtitles)

Maria and José Ribeiro are the “typical” Portuguese emigrants living in Paris. After thirty years abroad, they decide to return “home”, to Portugal, but can they?...

A Gaiola Dourada is a comedy directed by Portuguese-French director Ruben Alves. It was the most watched film at the cinema in Portugal in 2013, the year of its release.

All films included in the series will showcase themes, directors and productions relevant to the Portuguese context and, when necessary, will include subtitles.

This initiative is free of charge and is carried out in cooperation with the French Department.

With thanks to those who have already attended previous screenings,
