UN Interfaith Harmony Week Celebrated at UCC

6 Feb 2026

Cork Three Faiths Forum, UCC Chaplaincy, UCC Study of Religions and the EDI Unit celebrated UN Interfaith Harmony Week with a social evening with staff, students and wider Cork communities.

The opening address was given by Ursula Kilkelly (Professor of Law and Vice President Global Engagement) and the event was chaired by Dr. Amanullah De Sondy (Head - Study of Religions)

Aman said, "We live in a troubled world, often made more complex by the ways in which religion and faith are expressed in human experience. It is therefore imperative that we strive to understand one another, including the role that faith and religion play where they are central to an individual’s life. UN Interfaith Harmony Week seeks to advance this understanding by promoting harmony among people of all faiths and beliefs. I am delighted that UCC has marked this occasion for the first time, in support of the 2010 designation by the United Nations General Assembly, which recognises mutual understanding and interreligious dialogue as vital elements in fostering a culture of peace."
