Cork City Virtual Marathon, 2021

6 Jun 2021

QEU's 'Quality for Equality' relay team that took part in this year's marathon.

Our 'Quality for Equality' Team comprised four members from the QEU, plus three eager cainine friends. Our relay team was delighted to represent Sanctuary Runners in Cork City Marathon. The virtual nature of this year's marathon allowed participants to get invlolved, regardless of their proximity to Cork City. The 'Quality for Equality' Team headed in different directions for each of their respective legs of the relay.

Elizabeth Noonan followed the course of the Bandon River through beech & oak woodlands, accompained by supporters, 'Rum' & 'Coco'. Silvia Brandi jogged her leg of the relay locally in Cork, and in true Silvia style, decided to go a bit further and ended up in the 'Nire Valley' in Waterford! Marie O'Regan trekked through 'Trabadden' in the Dublin Mountains and, not to be outdone by Silvia, continued her journey and found herself climbing the 'Sugar Loaf' in Wicklow. Sheila Ronan and her sidekick 'Coco' decided to stay local and explored the Wild Atlantic Way around beautiful Courtmacsherry and Timoleague.

Congratulations to all those at UCC who participated in the marathon this June Bank Holiday. The QEU look forward to being involved in similiar events in the future.
