Congratulations to Drs. Órla P. Barry and Róisín Kelly-Laubscher of the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics, UCC, who secured research funding through the Strategic Alignment of Teaching and Learning Enhancement (SATLE) 2022 funding initiative which has been awarded through CIRTL. The grant awarded will support their novel project entitled “Exploring Pharmacology Assessment: A Legitimation Code Theory Analysis”, building on their previous work exploring types of assesment questions valued in Pharmacology. The use of LCT as an analytical toolkit will readily identify if the assessment design in Pharmacology matches with desired student learning outcomes.

Congratulations also to Dr Cathal Mc Carthy and Dr Roisin Kelly-Laubscher who are part of an interdisciplinary team that was also awarded a SATLE grant. This Project, “Inter-programme Learning in large classrooms: enhancing the experience” is led by Dr Aislinn Joy from the Medical Education Unit and includes staff involved in coordinating the first and second years of the MB Medical (Dr Aislinn Joy and Dr Rob Gaffney) and BSc Medical and Health Sciences Programme (Dr Roisin Kelly-Laubscher and Dr Cathal McCarthy).
