Celebrating the Achievements of Women in Pharmacology: Dr Roisin Kelly-Laubscher and Dr Rachel Moloney Promoted to Senior Lecturer

We are delighted to recognise the well-deserved promotions of Dr Roisin Kelly-Laubscher and Dr Rachel Moloney to Senior Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology & Therapeutics, University College Cork (UCC). Their achievements highlight the vital contributions of women in science, inspiring future generations in pharmacology.
Dr Roisin Kelly-Laubscher
Dr Kelly-Laubscher’s research focuses on developing cardioprotective agents to treat conditions such as myocardial infarction and drug-induced cardiotoxicity. Her work on ethanolamine as a potential cardioprotective agent aims to improve treatment for heart conditions. Additionally, she is a Teaching & Learning Fellow at UCC, contributing to life sciences education research and pharmacology curriculum development.
Dr Rachel Moloney
Dr Moloney is a neuropharmacologist researching stress-related disorders such as PTSD, anxiety, and depression. She investigates how traumatic stress affects brain circuitry and the role of the gut microbiome in brain-gut communication. Using cutting-edge techniques like chemogenetics (DREADDs), her work aims to identify new therapeutic targets for stress-related illnesses.
