What we do

The University Archives’ mission is to preserve and transmit the University’s recorded heritage, through vibrant engagement with the University community, evolving to meet the challenges and opportunities of changing technological and compliance environments, led by principles of archival and records management best practice.
The University Archives is responsible for preserving and making available for research collections of university records of historical importance. These collections document the evolution of the University from the creation of Queen’s College Cork in 1845 to the present.
The University Archives also performs Records Management functions for the management of modern records, many of which will become the archives of the future. It is responsible for policy, procedures, and guidance on creation, management, retention, and disposal of University records.
