About this course

The aim of this course is to provide staff with a comprehensive knowledge of their duties and actions to be followed during a fire. There is a legal requirement on employers to prepare an emergency plan outlining how the workplace will be evcauated in the event of a fire outbreak and the fire marshal has an important role in the execution of this plan.

The fire marshal course is presented by the Operational Fire Officer Mr. Declan O'Shea (Fire Safety Tel: 086-1753690), under the direction of the Buildings & Estates Office. This course should be undertaken every 5 years.

The Operational Fire Officer role is contracted under the budgetary and operational direction of B&E (via General Services Officer) e.g. fire drills, PEEP plans, Fire extinguisher training and fire marshal training, fire extinguisher provision and servicing.
