2015 Press Releases
Boole engineers the X-Factor
The 'I’m an Engineer... Get me out of here!' competition, which runs from 2-13 February 2015, has announced a Boole Zone.
As UCC celebrates 200 years since the birth of the first Professor of Mathematics, George Boole, this competition will remember his legacy in a profession that is heavily based in his algebraic formulas with the Boole Zone. This is a free online event where school students meet and interact with engineers. The X Factor-style competition allows the students be the judges as the engineers are put through their paces.
Students challenge the engineers over fast-paced online live chats. They can ask the engineers anything they want, and vote for their favourite engineer to win a prize of €500 to communicate their work with the public.
The competition is open to engineers as well as all secondary schools (all school places now full). Engineers can register here. Resource packs are also available for teachers and engineers, so feel free to sign up.
'I’m an Engineer... Get me out of here!' is funded by Science Foundation Ireland’s Discover Programme.
