Attractive ‘broad’ scientific sessions are scheduled including; gut microbiota on brain and behaviour, microbiota-probiotics targeting obesity and metabolic health, cell signalling in disease of protein misfolding, neuroglia, neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration as well as a session on cancer research.

The symposium's overarching topic is cell signalling but early career researchers, postdocs and PhD students from all interested disciplines are invited to attend.

The Young Life Scientist symposium is held in collaboration with the Irish Area Section of the Biochemical Society as a satellite event to the 8th Neuroscience Ireland Conference, a joint meeting with the Irish Area Section Biochemical Society, which will be held on the 12th and 13th of September in UCC.

The Young Life Scientist symposium is organized by young life scientists for young life scientists, and allows junior and senior students as well as post-docs, to hear the latest research from leading scientists within the field of cell signalling, and to extend their academic, presentation, networking and communication skills. The unique format provides a chance to gain valuable experience in giving formal talks to a peer audience.

The day will be concluded with a networking session and social event in the Franciscan Well Brewery.
