Success brings serenity

22 Nov 2013
UCC graduate, musician and poet David Moynihan is to launch his first poetry collection on 23 November 2013. He is also a tutor with the UCC Disability Support Service.

The view from ‘The Balcony’ must be pleasing for Cork musician, poet and UCC graduate David Moynihan as he launches his first poetry collection on 23 November from 3pm-4.30pm in Cork City Library.

27-year old David from Carrigrohane, who is also a tutor with the UCC Disability Support Service, will be hoping his self-published collection, ‘Serenity Within: A selection of poems and songs’, enjoys the same success as his chart-topping song ‘The Echoing Refrain’. The song is currently Number 1 in terms of views on music website BalconyTV Cork (http://www.balconytv.com/v/david-moynihan-the-echoing-refrain).

As part of the book launch, David will read some of his work. The event will be hosted by local filmmaker Ger Browne and will feature two guest readers, journalist and writer James O' Sullivan and Professor Graham Allen from the School of English, UCC. David will also sing a selection of songs from his first album ‘The Echoing Refrain’.

Launched last year, the six-track ablum was well received (produced by Stoneshadow Studios in Bishopstown) and is heavily influenced by The Beatles. In addition to singing vocals, Moynihan also plays guitar, piano, electric bass, double bass, keyboard and tambourine. The album can be bought in Plugd Records Cork for £7.99 or online - see http://www.davidmoynihan.com for more information.

Admission to the launch of ‘Serenity Within: A selection of poems and songs’ is free and tea and refreshments will also be available.
