Executive MBA visits Nordic Supermodel

The UCC Executive MBA recently returned from a very successful study visit to Helsinki, Finland, one of the successful Nordic economies recently described by the Economist as “the next supermodel”.

Over the four days, the class worked with a number of leading Finnish companies on the ‘change management’ challenges they face. The companies included with Finland’s national broadcaster, YLE; the international mining services company, Metso; the Nordic marketing company, Superlouder; Finland’s main telecommunications company, DNA; the Finnish and Baltic food preparation company, Kokkikartano; and a start up company providing services for musicians, Orxter.

While in Helsinki the class were introduced to a number of change management theories and frameworks to use in their interactions with their partnered companies. On the final day of the visit, each project team presented their responses to the challenges.

This is the fourth time the class has visited Helsinki as part of their studies, creating invaluable networking opportunities with the business sector in Finland.
