102 artists flag personal memories
Áras na Mac Léinn is to launch a collaborative exhibition this Thursday 2nd May at 10.30am at Café Oasis, UCC, as part of a community outreach programme.
The exhibition 'Echoes of Timeless Skills' features a collaboration between the local Ballyphehane ICA Guild, Ballyphehane Arts Network, Crawford Art Gallery, Presentation Girls Secondary School Ballyphehane and Coláiste Stiofáin Naofa.
The essence of the piece is represented by a large, bright, colourful banner of bunting flags where each flag depicts a personal memory of when the maker either learned a new skill or passed one on.
This work was made by all generations within the community with an age span of eight to eighty years of age and beyond, and led by an art tutor from the Crawford Art Gallery. In all, 102 local artists of all ages took part.
