The GINSENG research project, led by Professor Cormac Sreenan of Computer Science, exhibited recently at CeBIT, the world’s largest Information Communications Technology trade fair.

The GINSENG project solved the problem of providing performance control for wireless sensor networks, paving the way for commercial applications of this emerging technology for real-time industrial monitoring and control.

The project was selected to exhibit in the “CeBIT Lab”, which played host to technologies classed as being especially innovative. The partners showed a demonstration of the system that they have deployed at the Sines oil refinery in Portugal, interfacing with IT software developed by German company SAP, a project partner.

GINSENG is funded by the European Commission and involves eight partners from Ireland, England, Sweden, Cyprus, Germany, and Portugal.
