The French Ministry for Higher Education and Research, Paris, has invited Professor Grace Neville to chair an international committee of senior academics, pro-vice-chancellors and OECD and former EU officials in a major French Government policy initiative designed to strengthen the focus on innovation in teaching and learning in Higher Education in France.

This 150 million euro teaching and learning initiative was proposed by President Nicolas Sarkozy who has judged that the recent substantial increase in research funding in France should be accompanied by a stronger focus on innovation in teaching and learning across France’s universities, grandes ecoles and university institutes of technology. The committee which forms part of the ANR (Agence Nationale de la Recherche) will evaluate submissions from over 70 institutes of Higher Education in France and make recommendations to the Minister for Higher Education and Research regarding the distribution of the 150 million euro budget dedicated to this project.
